When too many students enroll for the course, some students are placed on the waitlist. Admission to the course from the waitlist depends upon the following factors, more-or-less in this order:
When positions become available, the instructor uses these factors to determine the order in which students are admitted.
A common problem is that a position becomes available, we try to admit a student from the waitlist, but that student is already registered for the maximum number of units allowed by his or her program. It is time-consuming for us to contact students individually to resolve this problem, so typically these students have the lowest priority.
If you really want to be in the course, attend each class, sign the attendance sheet at the end of each class, and make sure that we can easily admit you to the course if a position becomes available.
